Indonesia, which is located in the orogenic zone of the Pacific rim known as “The Ring of Fire,” often experiences strong earthquakes. The country has recently suffered many small and large earthquakes.

JTS Korea has been actively carrying out emergency relief aid on Lombok Island and in Palu on the island of Sulawesi. Lombok was hit by a series of earthquakes in July and August of 2018, Palu was hit by a massive earthquake in September of the same year. In order to deliver aid as fast as possible, JTS activists rushed to the scenes to gauge the damage and provide relief supplies. JTS doesn’t have enough volunteers or supplies to help all of the people who have been severely affected by the earthquakes. The victims, many of whom have barely made it out alive, are in dire need of humanitarian help.

JTS Korea has been actively carrying out emergency relief aid on Lombok Island and in Palu of Sulawesi Island, both of which have been severely hit by a massive earthquake in August and October of 2018. In order to deliver aid as fast as possible, JTS activists rushed to the scene of the earthquake to gauge the damage and have been providing relief aid supplies. However, JTS doesn’t have enough volunteers or relief aid supplies to help all of the people who have been severely affected by the earthquake. The victims of the earthquake, who have barely made it out alive, are in dire need of humanitarian help.

At Palu, Indonesia, JTS relief aid workers were able to briefly see the smiles of the residents during the last emergency relief mission of 2018. JTS Korea’s emergency relief aid activities will continue next year.
