January 2023 JTS America Newsletter
2023 has arrived. We hope that more people can enjoy a happy and healthy life this year. We believe that our wishes will surely come true if we engage in small efforts to protect the environment and provide small donations from our warm hearts.
Emergency relief for flood damage in Pakistan
Recently, JTS started a second round of aid to Pakistan, which suffered from flood damage. This time, food and an additional 200 pumps will be provided for drinking water for 4,000 households. Since Pakistan is a place that has suffered severe flood damage, it is not easy to restore it. We hope that our support will provide a little help and hope to the residents of the affected area who are suffering from hunger and despair.
Support for Guryong Village
In January, JTS delivered 100 10kg bags of rice, 100 boxes of ramen, and winter clothes to the elderly in Guryong Village. This support has been a great help as the village has not fully recovered since last summer’s flood. The village leader had tears in his eyes as he thanked JTS volunteers for their help.
Alawon Elementary School Repair
In 2006, JTS provided construction materials and the residents provided volunteer labor to build a wooden elementary school (3 classrooms) in Alawon, Philippines. Due to frequent rains, corridors and handrails easily rot or break. For children’s safety, JTS provided materials such as cement, steel bars, and lumber, and the village residents started repair work. Now strong pillars were built, and exterior corridors and handrails have been neatly and safely finished.
