November 2024 JTS America Newsletter
2024 comes to a close. Thanks to your continued support, we were able to bring comfort to hot regions, warmth to cold areas, and build schools in places that needed education. Once again, we deeply appreciate your generous contributions. Wishing you peace and happiness in your home this holiday season and into the new year.
2024 Summer Vacation Nutrition Packages
In 2024, JTS and Jungto Society once again visited children at risk of hunger during the summer vacation. A total of 920 volunteers participated in this initiative, delivering nutrition packages to 664 households.
School Supplies Donation to Bluean Elementary School
On October 31, JTS provided school supplies to Bluean Elementary School in a remote village in the Philippines. Bluean is located in a region so difficult to access that it takes two hours on foot, requiring transportation by motorcycle or horse. This village is one of the poorest areas in the Damulok District, and since the school’s establishment in 2009, the population has grown from 63 households to 203. Currently, 93 indigenous and Muslim children study together peacefully at the school.
Comfort Sent to Hearts Shaken by the Flood
In July, severe flooding in Assam, India, displaced many people. A total of 1,067 households in three villages were submerged, forcing the evacuees to leave their homes and set up temporary tents along the riverbanks to shelter and feed themselves. Upon hearing the news of their hardship, JTS quickly mobilized to provide food, including rice, lentils, oil, and salt, as well as infant formula and mosquito nets, distributing them rapidly to those in need.
Inauguration of Khalid Ibn Al-Walid School in Syria
On October 9, the inauguration ceremony was held for the Khalid Ibn Al-Walid School, built by JTS in the Jindires region of Turkey. This school is set to provide education for approximately 4,000 students, from elementary to middle school levels. JTS not only constructed the school building but also supported the students by providing essential school supplies, uniforms, shoes, bags, and equipment, ensuring they have a comfortable environment to focus on their studies.
