Changes at the community of Rohingya refugees
We provided a million gas stoves to the Rohingya people in January 2019. Since then, the World Food Programme (WFP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have supported LPG and maintenance services.
Positive impacts:
- Refugees can cook safely at home
- Reduce the cost for fuel
- Improve the condition of living of refugees
- We preserve more trees by reducing the needs for biomass
The future of Milutun, Mindanao
In March, we started building school, dormitory for teachers, and bathroom in Milutun, a Muslim village. We had much difficulty such as a delay of the project due to quarantine. The leader of the community, Malinco, has been working hard to solve all the problems. We expect a bright future of the village thanks to Malinco, a dedicated leader.
Sponsor coal briquette
Sponsoring coal briquette dropped by more than 30% in Korea due to the COVID-19. JTS started sponsoring coal briquette because we help the least advantaged. We plan to sponsor more than 20000 coal briquette in all over Korea. We provided coal briquette to four households in Jongam-dong, Seoul, on November 29. We volunteers hoped the senior, living alone separated from their family, stay warm in the winter.
Help the female heads of Russian Korean households
The female heads of Russian Korean households have difficulty in feeding the family including kids and parents when they are underemployed due to the COVID-19. JTS volunteers have helped them. This project initiated by Jo In-sung, an actor, and Harper’s Bazaar, a magazine. We provided aid packages to 28 households at the first round, and to 37 households at the second round.
