July 2022 JTS America Newsletter
The Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began early this year, is still going on and many Ukrainian have been suffering from it.
JTS has been putting a lot of effort into helping Ukrainian refugees in Ukraine and other Ukrainians who came to Korea as well. However, it is a shame that we cannot communicate our effort in detail to you due to the political circumstances and different interests in Ukraine. We hope peace will come again to Ukraine soon (or in the near future). Here is our news.
JTS Helps Ukraine refugees in Korea
Since the Korean government streamlined the visa-issuance process for ethnic Koreans in Ukraine, who are called “Koryoin,” after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, approximately 600 Kroyoin refugees came to Korea. Most of them are the elderly, women and children. JTS provided emergency supplies such as blankets, groceries, and daily necessities to them. JTS sincerely hopes those supplies will provide some help for their difficult life in a remote foreign country.

Emergency Relief Support for the Assam area in India
Many residents in the Assam area in India have not only lost their livelihood but have been suffering from lack of necessities due to the hurricane that hit the area hard this April. JTS, in collaboration with other NGOs in the area, provided emergency supplies such as 5kgs of rice, 3kgs of Dal, one kg of sugar, biscuits, Chai powder, detergent, and soap to 277 households.
We wish the residents will not lose hope thanks to those supplies, although they are only a small expression of JTS’s loving care.
We truly wish those supplies will provide a glimmer of hope for those who are suffering in the area although they are only a small expression of JTS’s loving care.
