The new year of 2022 has dawned. Although the Covid-19 pandemic is still unyielding, we wish that our neighbors who have been suffering from difficulties will have a warm and happy year. We again extend our sincere appreciation to those who support us by making donations that help our wishes to come true.

The school with full of laughter
The Sujata Academy, which was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has reopened. However, since the local government has allowed only 50% of the students to be at school at the same time, the students were divided into two groups that would attend school on alternating days. The school provided meals, eggs, uniforms and slippers for the students who were not able to eat proper meals during the pandemic closure.

Toast the winter cold with coal briquettes
Last winter, JTS began to provide vulnerable communities with coal briquettes. This year, JTS delivered some 36, 600 coal briquettes to 122 households in the 28 areas across Korea. On December 12, Ven. Pomnyun Sunim and the members of “Guilbot” (a Jungto Society Group of artists, broadcasters, and entertainers) joined together to deliver the briquettes to the residents in Guryong Village, a shanty settlement in Seoul. The generous volunteers warmed the hearts of everyone in the village in the midst of the cold weather.

Visit to the hurricane RAI disaster areas in the Philippines
Last December, JTS provided emergency relief efforts for the residents suffering from the super typhoon RAI in the Philippines. The hurricane was blamed for around 400 casualties, destroyed over 500,000 residential buildings and left more than 600,000 people with no homes. JTS Philippines delivered urgently needed rice, water, water bottle jugs, and coffee to 1,182 households in the areas of Cebu-Mactan, Mindanao, and Bohol.
