JTS in the Philippines, hit by Typhoon Rai

JTS Philippines provided emergency relief to the victims of Typhoon Rai, a catastrophic tropical cyclone that hit the Philippines last December.
Right after Typhoon Rai hit the area, we surveyed the damage, decided how to help, and provided relief goods worth over one million pesos to 1,182 households in three regions, which were hit most severely.

Typhoon Rai, which went through the southern Philippines, was the most powerful typhoon to hit the area in the last ten years. There were over 400 fatalities, 1,100 injuries, over 500,000 buildings destroyed, and over 600,000 victims of this disaster.
Here is the update on the JTS emergency relief to Mactan, Cebu (December 24th to 31st, 2021) and Mindanao (December 27th to 28th, 2021), Bohol ( January 6th to 11th, 2021)

Hilutungan Island, the coast of Cordova, Mactan, in Cebu province was severely damaged, but did not receive much support. JTS provided relief to 150 households with children in the first round, and additional 262 households in the second round. In total, we provided rice, water, water bottles, and coffee to all 412 households.

Lanao del Norte, Mindanao, was also severely damaged (167 fatalities, 124 injuries, 43 missing, 370,000 refugees as of December 20th ). We surveyed the damages and determined the goods needed, and provided relief packages to 500 households in Bacuag and Surigao on December 28th.

We did not select a specific town in Bohol. We drove the whole region, visited the households that were severely damaged, and provided 270 relief packages.
We hope that the victims soon recover from the damages and their lives return to normal.
