Visit Banana Chips Plants

JTS Philippines is researching to identify appropriate community development projects to fight against poverty in remote villages, which has been delayed due to COVID-19. The research includes a basic study of villages and field trips to obtain development project ideas. JTS Philippines staff visited a manufacturing plant producing chips using bananas, which are abundant in the villages.

JTS Philippines staff were informed by banana chip manufacturing experts on costs, human resources, and timeline. They also visited the seeding laboratory and banana farms. In addition, they learned how to make banana chips and tried making them on their own to see whether the villages would actually be able to do it. JTS Philippines hopes that the COVID-19 pandemic ends soon so that it can proceed with the community development projects.
